Plan your garage door area, where you would like it, and where you like to install the opener. Make sure it is not close to any unmovable objects such as outlets, light fixtures, or any other items present on the garage ceiling where the center of the door and lift motor and assembly will be.
Another common installation error is omitting the steel stiffener on the top edge of the top panel. The stiffener is usually 1.5 inch X 1.5 inch steel, or larger; necessary to re-enforce the top panel. This stiffener component might not come with some doors. That is because not all garage doors have an electric garage door opener.
Garage door springs. These are very dangerous, you should think about calling out a qualified garage door technician to do this for you. Whether it be a torsion spring or linear spring assemblies, can cause severe injury or death if improperly handled when adjusting, when adjustment is required.
A very common mistake when it comes to installing your garage door would be the screws. Some people tend to use nails, instead of screws. Using lag bolts into the framing members, bolt the track hangars into place. Remember not to tighten them as, you still have the job underway. This can be done at a later stage when you have finished installing all garage door parts. Lag screws are advisable should you get hold them as they hold the door firmly and are very strong. Make sure screws go into a solid frame member. This is because garage doors generate a considerable amount of force when opening and closing, and the weight of the door itself requires adequate support.
Your hinges should be set align with your panel, with it being on top and then fastening. Then attach the brackets, not the other way round, as that’s where mistakes occur. In order to prevent leakage make sure any tongue and grove edges are lined in properly, as if they not this is where another common mistake is usually picked up. During this period, your motor is only ready to be assembly, depending on the lift motor system, that is chain driven or screw driven, so bear in mind for that error as well.
The chain driven system might be a better choice for several reasons; chain drive systems are reliable and easy to repair. And, they are much easier to shorten for adjustment when installing. All you need to do is cut the slider bar to fit the assembly, and shorten the chain.
An installation kit is usually available and comes with your full manufacturer’s instructions on how to install a garage door safely, and correctly. The most common garage door problem is binding or twisting. Apparent when rollers and tracks show signs of wear, through time; and the door shudders and binds when opening and closing. This is a direct result of improper or incomplete installation. More about common mistakes when it comes to installing a garage door, visit our website for more info.

GARAGE DOOR PARTS
What is the phrase garage door part? Well in this article, you will the different garage door parts, there is and what garage door parts are. Like many mechanical structures, garage doors also need regular maintenance. Taking care of your garage door, that is the parts in meaning, is like taking care of your car or home. In order for your garage door to operate smoothly and avoid any inconvenience, hire a good technician that knows about garage doors, that way you will master what are garage doors parts and how to take care of them. You will also understand what needs replacing or repairs. Save time, save money, should the need arise next time. I will give you useful hints when it come to these mentioned parts, measure your structure, in order to know the exact size of your gate and what size part will be required for it. Reason for this is most of the parts are manufactured based on the size of these heavy structures. Contact your manufacturer / distributor, it is always advisable to communicate with them and get advice on what part you will be replacing or requiring. Garage doors can be opened manually or automatically (by a garage door opener), this is where your various parts come in. A typical overhead garage door consists of several panels hinged together that roll along a system of tracks guided by rollers. The weight of the door is balanced by either a torsion spring system or a pair of extension springs.
A single panel door, is designed from one monolithic panel. The door panel slides up and overhead on the rails to the open position. This means the car should stop several feet in front of door in not not to gt hit. This is where the monolithic panel takes place. With the sectional garage door, comes with 6 – 8 panels. This door then slides up and overheads. This particular garage door requires a part called the tracks, which functions, without any space required unlike a monolithic door. Each panel has its own connection to the door tracks.
Now we look at the torsion springs, these counterbalance systems consist of 1 – 2 wound up springs on a steel shaft with cable drums at the ends. The entire apparatus mounts on the header wall above the garage door and has three supports: a center bearing plate with a steel or nylon bearing and two end bearing plates at both ends. The springs themselves consist of the steel wire with a stationary cone at one end and a winding cone at the other end. The stationary cone is attached to the center bearing plate. The winding cone consists of holes every 90 degrees for winding the springs and two set screws to secure the springs to the shaft. Steel counterbalance cables run from the roller brackets at the bottom corners of the door to a notch in the cable drums. When the door is raised, the springs unwind and the stored tension lifts the door by turning the shaft, thus turning the cable drums, wrapping the cables around the grooves on the cable drums. When the door is lowered, the cables unwrap from the drums and the springs are rewound to full tension. The life of torsion springs usually last between 10 000 – 15 000 cycles, in my calculation, this is like 3 – 7 years.
Garage door parts should be lubricated monthly also. The door tracks should never be lubricated since the lubricant will only create a sticky surface on the track that can attract more dirt and grime, resulting in a door that is really difficult to operate. The bearings, hinges, and rollers should be lubricated for proper and safe operation
