Burst Geysers

In this article we will learn about the precautions you should follow when your geyser bursts. First of all I will explain what a geyser is. A geyser is a water tank generally located in the ceiling or somewhere in the bathroom and is that is fitted with a heating element that is controlled by a thermostat. It simply converts electrical energy into heat through the use of a heating element that raises the temperature of the water to a set temperature. Before if even burst you may also take precautions by protecting your geyser valve, meaning timorously replace the anode in your geyser and clean the valves frequently. Should you have insulation in the ceiling of home, you can also take precautions by insulating it as well. When your geyser decides to its time to go, there will be lots of water coming through the ceilings, dripping on the floors and wall. Most of the time, there is two main pipes to your geyser: one for inlet of cold water (with a shut-off valve), and one for the outlet of the hot water. When you geyser bursts, you may have to replace your geyser, it may also be advisable to fit a drip tray beneath your geyser at the same time. I find them to be very cheap and their job is to carry away a lot of water in the event of the geyser bursting.

Geysers are made from a steel tank which enclosed inside a metallic casing; remember that this should always be covered with some insulating material. All of these measures taken is for the security of any geyser bursts. It protects you and your loved from water burning or damaged to your home. As water in the geyser heats and cools, one can expect a fairly consistent drip through the pressure relief valve overflow pipe. The overflow pipe runs away from the geyser and transfers the water onto the roof or away from the building. Anything more than a couple of litres per day. Often points to a faulty pressure control valve. If there is a steady flow of water rather than a slow dripping, it should be replaced.  If hot water and steam are coming out of the overflow pipe, it may indicate a release of the safety valve because of excessive temperature or pressure. The most common cause is a faulty thermostat.
